Giveaway: skinnyskinny Organic Bath and Body

CONTEST IS OVER: WINNER POSTED HERE:

I'm amazed at the number of natural and organic bath and body retailers out there. In a Google search alone, there are 451,000 hits! That's a lot of additive-free suds and bubbles!

I sense a theme going on here, after last week's giveaway for bath products from 100% Pure. This week it's a nice package from skinnyskinny, also an organic bath and body company.

Founder Clara Williams started Brooklyn-based skinnyskinny "in order to fill a surprising void in the skin care market: there simply weren't any good soaps." All of their products are completely made from scratch, use only the finest ingredients available and contain a minimum of 96% certified organic ingredients. One lucky winner is sure in for a real treat, so read on!

skinnyskinny is also a huge supporter of environmental causes. They are a carbon neutral company, purchasing wind power to cover their electricity use and purchasing carbon offsets for things they can't recycle and for shipping. In the meantime, they use 100% recycled, reclaimed, and sustainable materials for all of their packaging.
I was able to try some of their Clover Honey & Citrus lip balm, made with organic beeswax, cocoa butter, olive oil, and honey. It has such a light taste and doesn't just sit on top of your lips like lip balms made with paraffin but is absorbed into your skin.
Their soap is also very nice. To be honest, it's not all that different from other handmade soaps, but I really like knowing that it was made by hand with the good-quality ingredients. And it smells lovely too!

Here's the skinny on the skinnyskinny giveaway. Clara has kindly offered one winner a bottle of bath salts, a bar of soap and a lip balm (all of your choice) all packaged in one of their pretty "Get the Dirt" tote bags. How generous is that? You, dear readers, are so darn lucky! I wish I could enter, because I'd love one of their cute tote bags (tote bag junkie here). The value of this prize is over $60!
Here's how to enter:

1. Visit skinnyskinny and leave a comment on this post with your favorite product. If you want to be extra nice, tell Clara something that you really like about the company and/or its philosophy
2. Make sure your email address is in the comment or is easily accessible via your blog profile
3. For one extra entry, blog about this post and leave a separate comment letting me know
4. For a second extra entry, post my button (code is on my right hand sidebar) on your blog and let me know you've done this in a separate comment

This giveaway is for US and Canadian postal addresses only.

You must do the first two things in order to enter ("I want to win, thanks!" comments will NOT be considered). You will have until Friday September 5th at 11:59pm EST to enter. The winner will be chosen via random number generator the next day and notified by email. I'll also post the winner on my blog. If I don't hear back from the winner by Tuesday at noon, I'll pick another. Good luck and thank you so much Clara!

The bath salts look wonderful. I am really impressed that SkinnySkinny buys Wind Power to offset their own energy use.

First of all, I LOVE the fact that skinnyskinny products are packaged in 100% recycled, reclaimed, sustainable and biodegradable materials. So many things come overpackaged these days, it's nice to see a company doing their share to help!

Secondly, I really like the lavender and eucalyptus bath salts. This sounds like it would be SO calming right before bedtime!

Thank you both for a GREAT giveaway!

I really like the shaving mug/brush, etc. It seems like few companies make nice products like this for men!

I am seriously so in love with the shaving gift set. My husband has been using a shaving brush for about a year, ever since I read that in the Tightwad Gazette that it is a good way to save money (but also good for the environment).
He has gone through 2 brushes (bristles fall out) and uses a porcelain Burt's Bees mug; I would LOVE LOVE to get him that beautiful set with the hardwood cherry "mug" that won't break if he accidentally drops it in the bathroom (or if Jojo decides he needs to grab it off of the sink).
SkinnySkinny has many unique things; I was pleasantly surprised. I love their tree-free book shaped gift boxes.

I like the Coffee and Mint Soap for the kitchen on the wooden soap holder made by Clara's brother. The Fetching Dog soap is also wonderful! I was not at all surprised that Clara has a BFA and MFA in sculpture, because her artistic skills are clearly shown on her website. The skinnyskinny web site is beautifully designed as are the lovely photographs of the pretty products. I also love that the boxes and bottles are so attractive as to encourage re-use by the consumer. I also appreciate that skinnyskinny is eco-aware and caring for the environment!

clynsg said...

I really like the small soap set gift box. I frequently give nice soaps as gifts, and that would be lovely, with the sampler component so the recipient could really decide which they like best, not just depend on my selection. I also like the idea that they produce an organic dog shampoo--not much good going organic for ourselves, if we then have to use something definitely non-ecofriendly for the four legged ones!

Oooh, jasmine and green tea bath salts, definitely!

And the first thing that struck me about the company when I saw their website, was the packaging. I love the clear bottles and simple paper wraps. However, pretty packaging always makes me feel bad, as I know it comes with a price. BUT, not with skinnyskinny, they have a great eco-commitment. From their website: "we use 100% recycled, reclaimed, and sustainable materials for all of our packaging". That's so awesome. Keep up the great work!!

Great shop! I found many interesting products. I would like to try a bar of the coffee and mint soap in my kitchen. It sounds like such a pleasing scent. I am also intrigued by the fact one of the ingredients in a few of the bars is black pepper. I thought that was very unusual. It sure piques my curiosity!

First, the name, while sounds fun, has some meaning behind it. Second, with more and more people concern about what they use on daily basis, organic products became more and more popular. I like the bath salts and the lip balms, wouldn't have any problem putting them on.

I love those handcrafted wooden soap dishes. I mean I NEED one. I am going to bookmark her and order one when I get a few extra $$. The problem is, my natural bar soaps (and hers also look sooo tempting, especially the way she has them all lined up in the pictures!) get all nasty and soggy in a regular soap dish because the water can't drain off. That's why those soap dishes are perfect. Plus, they are made from wood and I love things made from wood. I've never seen any like them!

Using a shaving brush (and shave cream in a tub..but mainly the brush) CHANGED my husband's face! Strong statement, I know. He used to suffer from lots of irritation and (gross) ingrown hairs. But he started shaving with a brush, and they have vanished! It's a little more expensive to begin with, but a tub of shave cream will last for ever if you use the brush. It's the PERFECT gift for any men in your life when you can't think of what else to give them. We've given them to our fathers and brothers. It was nice to see that she sells the brushes on her site...so helpful and a great product.
