Wordful Wednesday: The Holiday Card

I've been trying to take a decent photo for our Christmas card. After multiple attempts to dress up SoJo in Christmas-y clothes, this is all I get:
That resolution looks like something out of a "Tool" video. Could the boy just stop moving for 30 seconds?

How about this expression:
I call that "Marijuana Mellow." Not the best look for the Christmas card. And time is running out here, since I need to order them and get them in the mail, oh, sometime before New Year.

And finally, my little Oompa Loompa elf.
How do you all get the little one to sit still for the holiday photo? I'm thinking that we'll be doing a family photo this weekend so that one of us could at least hold him still. Now where is that darned tripod?

  4. Ugh, I have one of those, too. I have no idea how people get the nice studio shots with everyone smiling with open eyes...

  6. Sometimes you don't get them to sit still and you just have to be creative.

  7. I'm dying over the Mary Jane Mellow.

I'm hiring someone to photograph us this year. Fingers crossed.

  9. This is too funny. How about trying some duct tape to his bottom? haha just kidding.

Although, my first grade teacher totally taped me down because i wouldn't sit still! She would probably be fired for doing that today.

  10. It gets MUCH harder with a toddler!!!

I usually give my girls something to hold...like a toy, jingle bell, ornament, etc. They are SO thrilled to be given something different to play with, that they usually smile and sit down to check it out!

  11. Hilarious! NO wonder there are people who make a living doing it--it isn't easy for novices. Good luck.

  12. Ah the many faces of Soren. I LOVE that mellow shot and the elf.
Just think of it as creative photography and it's all good..
Either way you look at him, he's a doll!

  13. LOL I had the same problem last night with my daughter. I just kept clicking away - took maybe 50 shots and only liked one lol! I put a christmas present box on the ground and told her to sit on it - she thought that was cool. So that helped :)

  15. He's a cutie, even in a blur! Maybe you could borrow a camera that has the image stabilization feature.

  16. one of my favorites of one of my girls was I put her in PJ's, gave her a few orniments to play with and had her sitting in a pile of Christmas lights and then laying under the tree playing with an orniment on the lowest branch

  19. I was lucky that both of mine were not yet mobile for the first Christmas photo.

When Jojo was 2, I posed him beside a little 3 foot Christmas tree and asked him where the star was. So the picture was pretty cute of him reaching up to grab the star topper.

That is my only trick I can think to tell you.

  20. A tip for that age - after two different photo sessions ending in tears (mostly mine) - find a big box, wrap it with pretty holiday paper. Sit the baby in the box and put osme really fun toys in the bottom of the box. He should stay put and you get his attention a few times and snap! Also right in front of the Christmas tree this looks even cuter!
