Progresso Panko Gift Basket {Giveaway}

Fall cooking has taken over our house, where the smells of stewed apples, pumpkin muffins, and soups fill the air. While summertime is dotted with light salads and grilled food, I find fall to be filled with comfort foods, which usually mean things that warm you up (and stick to your waistline--tis the season).

One ingredient that I haven't cooked with much is Panko, a Japanese-style bread crumb made with lighter, crust-free bread. Progresso has just introduced their own Panko Crispy Bread Crumbs, in both plain and Italian-flavored, and I'm eager to try them as breading or the topping of casserole dishes.

Progresso has teamed up with celeb chef Michael Chiarello to give you recipe suggestions and tips for cooking with Panko and Progresso Broths. I really want to make his Spinach Aranchini,
which are Panko-encrusted, cheesy spinach balls. They'd be great for toddler dipping, as well as for a party appetizer.

Some of the simple uses for both Panko Crispy Bread Crumbs and Progresso's 100% Natural broth are:

Progresso Panko Bread Crumbs
  • Breading 1-2-3:Panko adds the perfect light crunch to fish fillets, chicken breasts and pork chops. Dip in flour, then beaten egg and coat both sides in Panko before frying or baking
  • Faux Fried:Instead of frying, bake Panko-coated chicken in a 400F oven for 20 minutes to get the same crispy crunch without the fat

Progresso Broths
  • Give New Life to Leftovers:Time in the fridge can steal moisture and flavor; drizzle a little broth over last night’s pasta or casserole before reheating
  • Better than H20:Water adds moisture, not flavor; replace water with broth when you cook potatoes, rice and grains

Also available on ProgressoFoods.com is a coupon for $1.00*off any two Progresso products. At ProgressoBroth.com you’ll find a coupon for $.50 off a package of broth.

Progresso is also offering one lucky reader
A Progresso Gift Basket!
(includes a box of Panko Crispy Bread Crumbs, Progresso Chicken broth, a measuring cup, ladle, spoon, baking pan and a copy of their Soups & More magazine (so many great recipes for soup and Panko!)
