Lafayette Puzzle Factory {giveaway}

My son and I spend many a morning covering our front porch with chalk drawings. He mostly asks me to draw train tracks for him to drive his cars over, and he mostly just scribbles. It's a leisurely pastime, but why not incorporate some additional learning into it?
Lafayette Puzzle Factory has done just that by combining chalk drawing, puzzles and geography in their Crayola Chalkboard floor puzzle of the United States.
Their chalkboard floor puzzles come with a large piece of chalk, which is easily erasable with a cloth or chalk eraser. It's appropriate for both indoor and outdoor drawing, and the chalkboard surface has a matte finish which accepts chalk nicely. It was also named one of the 2009 Toys of the Year by Creative Child Magazine.
I can definitely see using this map puzzle in other learning capacities, like having your child write down the capital city of each state within the state, or maybe drawing the state animal or something of the like.

While I admit that I put most of it together (since my 2 year old is not quite adept at puzzles yet), he had fun scribbling over the 50 states.
The puzzle pieces are large and sturdy, perfect for little hands. I enjoyed putting it together by trying to remember where each state was located on the map (I'm pretty good until it comes to the Southwest, where I can't remember how the states align to make the Four Corners).
Puzzles are a great activity for sharpening a child's mental skills, plus they're a wonderful way to embark on some family fun. And Lafayette Puzzle Factory has lots of other puzzles, from beginner to adult, and even 3-D sculptural ones and ones that come with 3-D glasses.
