Dwindling Summer

Though I'm elated to bid farewell to the awful heat, it's somewhat bittersweet that summer is winding down.

We've been enjoying summertime outings to the Delaware Seashore, and this past weekend SoJo and I met some friends there for swimming and exploring the boardwalk in Ocean City, Maryland.
It's such an amazing boardwalk, with family-friendly activities (this is no Seaside Heights, Jersey Shore fans) and a really wide beach. I like that the sand just rolls up to the boardwalk, no trekking up steps and over the dunes.
There's even a wooden play castle to explore on the beach, where you land in the endless sandbox rather than on concrete.
And of course there's simply the sand and sea to play in.
At night, the boardwalk twinkles with lights and carnival rides, and despite the look of trepidation on his face, SoJo had such fun riding these.
But not before the race to finish a dripping ice cream cone (sorry, no shots of that--too busy licking!).

So how's your summer winding down? Are you looking forward to fall? I sure am! Jubilantly!

  1. I love the castle slide. This looks like a great beach to visit with little ones.

  2. I am definitely looking forward to the crispness of the air, the smells, the baking, yep, I'm over summer!

But what a glorious place that is! Sojo must have had the best day!

  4. Holy SoJo! The kid is getting so big! He looks like such a big boy in these pictures, what happened?! He is still simply adorable and that trip looked like so much fun.
We are going through a heatwave currently where even up where I am it is hot (ok, the 80's isn't hot to everyone, especially my husband who is enduring 104 degree weather down the mountain but it is all relative, right?) - so Summer is holding strong here.
Is is possible to totally miss you given that we only spent what, a few hours together total? I so do! I wish we lived closer!! I really, really do!

  5. Oh I love all of the pictures, I wish we had made it to the beach more than we did the summer, but some days, it was just too hot to spend the day outside. Ugh!

I'm definitely looking forward to autumn, though I do hope for one last "summery" camping trip before all is said and done. :)

  7. I never been to Delaware but it looks really nice. I'm hoping to try to make the most of the end of my summer go to the aquarium and pier.
