Spooky Graveyard Dip Recipe

Over the weekend, we went to a fun Halloweenie roast at a friend of ours, and in keeping with the spooky theme, I made this delicious and cool-looking dip to bring to the party.

I saw the recipe in a magazine (I think Better Homes and Gardens?) and thought it looked simple to make yet festive.
I wish the photos were a little more artistic, but I was hurriedly making it right before the party, so things didn't get soggy, and just snapped shots as I was working.

I made a typical 7 Layer dip, with guacamole on the bottom, layered with sour cream, green onions, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes & red peppers, shredded cheddar (2 layers) and black bean dip and more lettuce on top.  I layered it in a rectangular dish, and added pretzels around the edges to look like a cemetery gate.
The icing on the dip, so to speak, was the spooky tree and tombstones, which I made out of a whole wheat tortilla.
I simply cut out a tree shape from a tortilla (they're flexible at this point).  You could draw a tree first, but I just free-handed it.
I used the scrap pieces to cut out tombstone shapes.  Don't worry about being perfect--they will look old and worn if they're uneven.
Then I put them on a pizza pan (or cookie sheet) and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or so, until the tree is hard and crispy.
Just before the party, insert the tree and tombstones into the dip.  They get a bit soggy sitting in the dip as the party progresses, so you don't want to assemble it overnight or anything.
I added some chopped olives for the "dirt" at the base of some of the tombstones, and some shredded lettuce grass for around the graveyard.  It was a hit at the party, and I served it alongside tortilla chips and crackers.
For my black bean dip, I drain a can of black beans, add a chopped red onion and some of my homemade salsa, some salt and pepper and a teaspoon of chili powder, then blend it in a food processor.  You can also do an online search for 7 Layer Dip to get some more good recipes.

I'm always looking for a festive party food that doesn't involve candy or sweets.
