Elizabeth Mitchell's musical repertoire completely describes the type of music I'm talking about. Her newest album, aptly titled Sunny Day, is pure delight.
Released by Smithsonian Folkways (another fave of mine), Sunny Day is a collaboration between Elizabeth, her husband Daniel, their 9-year-old daughter, Storey, and friends (including Dan Zanes).
We've had this album on repeat rotation the last few days; there's something so soothing and familiar about the songs, almost like we're at our weekly library storytime/sing-a-long. Many of the songs are indeed familiar, like Lovely Day, This Little Light of Mine, and Keep on the Sunny Side. Clearly, just based on the titles, you're in for an upbeat treat.
I like this album so much that I just ordered her previous one this morning. Can't wait to stock up the cd player with more of her music and let the sing-a-longs continue.WIN IT!
One lucky K&K reader will win a copy of Sunny Day by Elizabeth Mitchell!

ReplyDeleteThe Tsuki (Moon) song is my favorite--you will not be disappointed by her former cd, "Three Little Birds" is the best rendition of that song I've heard. It makes me so happy!

The clip of Keep on the Sunny Side wasn't long enough to tell, but I think this is a song also covered (partially...or alluded to, anyway) by Poi Dog Pondering (an all-time fave band in our house). shanaleigh70 at google dot com Have been wanting a copy of Elizabeth's disc...thanks for the chance!
