We're Having a...

BIRL!
Ok, so we're not really sure.  The baby was lying in a way where the head was up, the back was facing outward, and the feet were covering, er, the important parts, so the sex is not certain.  And despite poking, prodding, rolling over by me, etc. this baby is just not a mover and wasn't ready to turn over.  At one point the technician thought it might be a boy, but she wasn't entirely positive.  So the waiting continues, and maybe we'll have a delivery surprise.  I can't recall when I had an additional ultrasound with my last pregnancy, but we might know a little sooner than the birth.

All along I was thinking it was a girl, just for how little movement I've felt, and also just a different feeling with this pregnancy (my face has broken out more, my digestion is more sluggish) but maybe I'm just destined to be the mother of boys.

However we're happy that everything else looks well, and that the baby seems healthy.  Now if I can just fight off this cold and get a good night's sleep.

  1. Well at least you know you don't know for sure what the baby's sex is. With my second daughter I was told by two different doctors at 2 different dates that she was a he. When she was born the doctor took her out and said "it's a boy...um, nope it's a girl". I was confused to say the least and had to ask for clarification of the sex. lol

  3. Whaaaaaaaaaattt? Come ON baby!!!!! {Oh the suspense!!!!!!!!!!!!!}

I don't know if your healthcare provider would do this or not, but my doctor ordered a second ultraound, just to "check on the baby" during my seventh month with Rose so I could find out her sex. Just an idea... ;)

  4. As long as the baby is healthy, that's all that matters. Though, it's nice to prepare in advance for the other sex, if that were the case, since you already have all boy stuff. Will you have another U/S soon, or will you have to wait for D day to find out the sex?

Another blog I read just had her U/S today too! She's having her 3rd boy! There is nothing like having all boys if that is the case for you. Boys rock. They love their moms and they take care of us always :)

  6. I have 2 girls and 1 boy. I noticed the heartbeat was different with my son than with my daughters (he was my third); I want to say it was slower, but it was a really long time ago. Also, my girls didn't let on to their gender, but my son was quite proud of his, uh, yeah. =)

Either way, as long as he/she is happy and healthy, right? =)

  8. Teehee. Private little guy/gal, eh? Here's to a happy surprise!

Will not knowing influence your knitting & other project plans, or do you have a cache of gender neutral projects?

  9. A healthy baby? We'll take it! :) That little stinker just wants to surprise you when he or she is ready to. Maybe you'll catch a glimpse at the next ultrasound?? lol

  10. Aw, you probably really want to know..I understand. We found out the sex of both of our children too. But, really, it would be such a surprise and exciting to wait til the birth. I wonder if I would do that if I got pregnant again. Happy to hear the baby is looking good though!!

  11. Aw, well whatever the little one is, I'm sure he/she will present themselves when they're ready :)

You know, they gotta keep mommy and daddy on their toes ;)

Good luck with fighting off that cold!

  13. Obviously a persnickety girl who doesn't want her picture taken, even in utero!

  14. With my son I had four ultrasounds (though one was elective at 27 weeks for 3d). To check birthweight they may give you another ultrasound between 33 and 37 weeks.
