My First Mani-Pedi

I believe I've confessed to you about my nail biting habit on this blog before.  Yeah, I know, gross!  It tends to come out when I'm stressed, or bored, mostly on car rides, and I've tried for years to stop it without much luck.  I'm quite weak in the motivation department, I tell you.

Sharing the following photo is probably the hardest thing I've posted on my blog, I mean, how embarrassing and vulnerable it makes me feel!  But since I'm vowing to stop the nail biting forever as of today, maybe knowing this info is out there for everyone to see will help me end the tooth-and-nail insanity.
So my wonderful husband recently treated me with a gift certificate to a local spa, where I made an appointment for a manicure and pedicure.  Let me be clear in saying I grew up as daughter to a woman who didn't wear much makeup, didn't fuss over her hair (other than to curse its natural curliness), and never got manicures or pedicures.  So this was a new experience for me, and though I don't have a problem with strangers touching me, I wasn't sure how I'd react.

I really enjoyed it, especially learning how to give myself a proper manicure.  And of course the hand and foot massages were great, as was soaking my feet in the spa foot tub.  I must do this again before having the baby.

Here are the results:
Ta da! Pretty and soft feet!  And my nails actually look normal.  I still don't think I could go much longer than my fingertips, since I do so much with my fingers and don't really want nails to get in the way.
When I showed Soren this morning, he said "oh, no! I want a new mommy!"  He really didn't like my painted nails, nor my feet (he said he wanted my other feet back).  It really cracked me up.

Do you get regular mani-pedis?  How often do you go?

I used to bite my nails a lot. The way I stopped was to constantly keep them painted. Who wants bits of nail polish in their teeth? LOL

Your hands look like mine! I am a recent recovering biter too!

As a former nail biter, I do not cast judgment on anyone who bites their nails. LOL I bit mine for ... 20+ years of my life and suddenly just stopped. I carried a file with me, whenever I got the urge, I filed my nails instead.

Definitely get another before you have the baby - but the foot/calf massage might not be so nice, they'll avoid a certain area that can cause you to go into labor. I didn't know about this when I was pregnant and was very disappointed with the half hearted massage until my sister filled me in ;)

Love that color on you. Hopefully Soren is used to it soon LOL his reaction is too cute.

I used to get pedicures once a month or so, but stopped - it's just another expense I cut. That doesn't mean I miss it though ;) I've gotten a manicure {not including when I had acrylic nails} only once, before our wedding.

His reaction is just too funny, but your nails really do look great. I never mess with my hands, but I do my toes regularly. :)

I have never gotten a maniure or pedicure, or even a message. Pretty amazing for 55, huh? And yes, I still bite my nails.
BUT I wear full makeup every day-eyeliner included, plus I wash and style my hair daily also. I am just a nervous nelly with my nails!
