I've used HALO products like the SleepSack wearable blanket and SleepSack Swaddle with both of my boys, and was happy to hear that HALO has partnered with hospitals around the country for the HALO Safer Way to Sleep Initiative, which educates parents and staff about safe sleeping practices.
My birthing hospital swaddled infants with small receiving blankets (and truthfully, it was a pain in the neck trying to properly swaddle a newborn in those things), however the practice seems misleading to new parents in that these kinds of blankets easily become loose, creating a potential risk for infants.
To shed light on this matter, HALO is sponsoring a trade-in program with hospitals, where Childbirth Educators can replace a traditional nursery blanket for FREE with a HALO SleepSack wearable blanket.
The program offers more options for hospitals, including programs where parents can leave with a complementary SleepSack. You can learn more HERE. And you can also learn more tips about safe sleeping for babies on the HALO site.

I think a sleep sack is so much better than swaddling too! When Colton was in his harness he couldn't be swaddled so we used the sleep sack and then I was about his hip dysplasia and some of the websites were saying that too agressive or incorrect swaddling is bad for a baby's hips!
