Glad Art Auction and Keeping America Beautiful

I'm continually amazed at the inventive creations that people come up with using recycled and repurposed materials.  During one of my teaching stints, I recall one of my teenage students making a really awesome skirt using plastic bags.  Not only was she recycling, but she made something pretty cool and actually wearable.

I love seeing seeing what people turn "from trash to treasure", so I was excited to see the creations that mosaic artist Jason Mecier has made using would-be trash items from stars like actors Amy Smart, Megan Mullally and Jesse Eisenberg in the Glad Art Auction.

Partnering with the Keep America Beautiful campaign, Glad Black Bag is sponsoring an art auction on eBay, which runs from April 16th through 21st, where you can bid on four artworks that are wild-life themed.   Proceeds go the Keep America Beautiful campaign, whose mission is to engage individuals to take greater responsibility for improving their community environments.

Glad has also partnered with the Picker Sisters, best friends and designers Tracy Hutson and Tanya McQueen, to inspire and encourage people to reuse thrown-away items.  Some starting points include refreshing key pieces in your home through reupholstering or painting them as well as embracing an eclectic look where items don't match.

I was sent some Glad ForceFlex Black Bags to review, and they're tough for all kinds of jobs, both household and outdoor, as well as easy to close.  I tested them on one of our "wild life" moments--the messy remnants from our cat's litter box.

The Glad Black Bag was able to withstand all that weight, smell, and worded great at keeping all that material contained.  We've also used them in our garage for a construction job with great results, including no holes, even with pieces of wood.  I like that I don't have to worry about it breaking open on the street, especially when being thrown onto the trash truck and making a mess all over our street.
