GetUncommon Mother's Day Gifts {Giveaway}

It's no secret that I'm fond of kids' artwork, having worked as an art teacher before having my own kids.
This year has been especially exciting for me, seeing Soren enjoy drawing and painting more, and depicting more representational in his pictures, as evidenced in my recent birthday card that he drew.
Here he is having fun doing an eraser dot "painting", exploring materials and new ways of creating.
On the last day of the month, his backpack is filled with art that he's created the previous month in Preschool.  Of course most recently, he's brought home some lovely springtime art, like this pussy willow thumbprint painting.
and the obligatory Easter egg, this one made with watercolors and sponges or stamps.  I loved how this came out, especially the color scheme.
With the sheer amount of artwork that comes home from school, a parent is often faced with the dilemma of what to do with it.  Stash it away?  Covertly add it to the recycling pile after displaying it for a few weeks?  Frame it?  Sadly, I just can't keep everything, but I did come across a creative and sentimental way to perpetually enjoy my son's artwork; turn it into a iPhone case.

GetUncommon can turn any scanned or photographed artwork into case for your Apple tech gear, which is a great way to both remember and show off your kid's artwork.
I created an iPhone case using the Easter egg that Soren created above.  I enlarged the image, cropped it so it was a rectangle, then easily uploaded it to GetUncommon.com.
I didn't want an "egg" on my phone, which is why I cropped it.  Sadly, with the process of translating an image to a phone case, a lot of the picture was unable to be seen on the case. But that didn't stop my son from beaming when I showed him that his artwork was on my phone.

The Capsule case that I chose is durable (I fell on the sidewalk yesterday with no damage), however it's taking some time to get used to compared to my old case, which was rubberized (ie. it slides around a lot more).  The front panel is black (I wish that white had been an option in this style) and the case itself is very easy to install.  You just take off a bottom piece and slide the phone in.
There are other options for cases, including ones that are transparent and semi-transparent.  You can upload your own images or photos, as well as choose from ready-made ones at the GetUncommon.com website.  I love the colorful Tenagram Clearly UN Deflector design.
And the pretties by Valentine Ramos are lovely too (I'm a fan of her artwork).
I think a new, personalized gadget case would make an awesome Mother's Day or Father's day gift, don't you?  Especially with a special photo or artwork that will always remind Mom and Dad of you, or remind you of your kids.
Check out this sweet and sentimental video created by GetUncommon.com.  I promise it will make you smile.

  1. I've always wanted a getuncommon case, and have sent many people to their website. I would want to put drawings my sons have done. My oldest draws really great ninjas and my youngest stick figures with the funniest expressions.

  2. Since I don't have an iPhone, I think I'd opt for the iPod Touch 4th gen Capsule. As for what I'd put on it...that's a tough question! One idea would be an Owl of some sort ^.^

    Thank you for this great giveaway!
