Summer Finds from NOVICA {$50 Giveaway}

It's summertime, which prompts the return of wind chimes, hammocks, and the rotation of seasonal clothes.  We spend a lot of time outside, just hanging out on our porch and in the backyard, even when it's hot.  I enjoy making our small outdoor space a part of our daily living area, and it's nice bringing some funky global decor outside.  I enjoy hanging out on our upstairs sleeping porch, swinging in the hammock (which I purchased last year from NOVICA).

NOVICA is a great place to find unique items for summertime, whether decor, apparel, or gifts.  I'm currently loving their batik robes, which say "summer" for me.

And if you're one to forgo air conditioning (like us, until two days ago), you might like to tote a lovely silk fan around with you to create breezes where there aren't any.

They remind me of the hot summer Sundays spent in church as a kid, though they're much more elegant than the accordion-folded church bulletins I used to make for keeping cool.

The West African Kente cloth sold by NOVICA also seems quite summery to me.

This would be a gorgeous pop of color on a shady porch or inside during the summer months.  I love the geometric patterns and traditional designs.

I'm certain you will find something you love on the NOVICA website, whether it's a gift or something for yourself.  It's really hard to choose, especially when browsing their jewelry.

I ended up purchasing a whimsical mirror for Soren's room, which I'm about to repaint and redecorate.  It's a retablo (home altar) from Peru.

I thought its message, "Children's Joy for Peace" was perfect for a child's room.  It's something that even as an adult he might like to have in his home.  And it came so beautifully and thoughtfully packaged.

The retablo mirror is amazingly handcrafted, and so fun in its colors and imagery.  There's even a video of the artist, Alehandro Chavez, creating his work.  I love watching his process of creating these beautiful works of art.  I certainly can't say that there are videos of my sofa or lamps being made anywhere on the internet.
