Saffron Marigold {Giveaway}

My tastes have always favored the exotic, even when I was little and wanted to drape my Barbie doll in a sari-like wrap. In college, I would avoid eating much for lunch in order to save up my pitiful paychecks to buy gorgeous block-printed fabrics to hang on my walls. There was an import store on South Street that had such lovely linens, many of which I still have tucked away in our linen closet, ready to be used on our tables or walls.
Saffron Marigold is a wonderful seller of block printed textiles for your home. The name of the store itself is lovely, but wait until you see their fabrics.
They sell a variety of linens for your home, including bedspreads, duvet covers,
shower curtains, and kitchen textiles.
Their items start in India, where artisans make each item by hand, including the dyes. The process is really interesting to see in the Block Printing Process Photo Album.

They first carve wooden blocks with elaborate patterns drawn on them, then use the carved blocks to stamp the fabrics.
A finished printing block
Sometimes one piece of fabric can have many stamps that make up the pattern, so you can imagine how time consuming the process is.
An artisan printing one of the final layers of the design
Saffron Marigold is committed to the guidelines of Fair Trade, so you know that when you buy one of their items, you're supporting a network of artisans in their manufacturing facility. In addition, of course, to having one of their gorgeous products gracing your abode.

We have a set of block printed napkins (from another shop) that everyone always comments on. I pull them out for special guest or occasions, and I just love how they spice up our table (pun intended).

Saffron Marigold would like to offer one very lucky K&K reader...
These would be lovely for Thanksgiving or fall-themed dinner.

To enter

oh, wow, I want to try block printing like that... so amazing!

At first I thought I would pick the "Memories of Shalimar" but the simple beauty of the "Purple Moon" napkins is really elegant.

My favorite style of napkin is the Tropical Garden ~ Red Floral Country Dinner Napkins. Can you tell I love that pattern?

I'd love to win because I like things with lots of color, and all of the Saffron Marigold items come in gorgeous colors! So, of course, I'd like to win these items for me!

My favorite napkin is the Memories of Shalimar Fancy Green Cotton. I have been collecting unmatched green napkins for years. These lovely green napkins would work well with my collection. As for my favorite item overall, I love the Purple Moon Floral Sari Print Indian Block Print Tablecloth. It is stunning! I don't like things too matchy matchy, so this would perfect for my eclectic tastes.
Thank you!

I like the Purple Moon pattern. It wouldn't really match any of our current decor, but it is such a beautiful, almost mesmerizing, pattern. It matches the house I eventually hope to own ;) Thank you for the giveaway!

Oh no! What did you have to go and show us this site for? Good heavens woman, have you no mercy?
The prints are gorgeous! Luckily, I'm ready to order a tablecloth for the holidays and am so very glad you showed me these.
I really like the Paisley Au Lait white and black tablecloth. I WANT the Paisley Au Lait tablecloth!
However, I also adore the Indian Summer napkins. Or maybe the Memories of Shalimar.
Nice review Katydid and thank you again, I really did need that!

Lim said...

Like others have said, "Wow." I would give the Purple Moon Napkins to a friend who brought me a collection of fables back from Turkey. She's always doing things like that.
If I were looking for myself I'd go with something from the Midnight Lotus collection.

EmmettFerret said...

I like Ocean Breezes ~ Rustic Blue Brown Moroccan Beach Pillow Sham (sorry for the copy that was long one) because it matches my livingroom. Dark red/brown, light blue and brown and patterns. It's tough to find things that match those colors without greens in them. I'd totally keep the cloth napkins as that is all we use. Memories of Shalamar are nice and work with my kitchen. It's so nice when I do these comments when I'm not in the office.. I can actually post more than something short!

Saffron Marigold has absolutely gorgeous linens!
I must say I have never thought of even looking at Indian fabrics, even tho I have seen other block printed items... these are stunning, and even from the photos you can see the special touch of detail the artists put into their line!
My youngest son & DIL are trying to buy their first house. And she has always loved shades of green, so I would love to win the Memories of Shalimar as a start to a beautiful 'New Home" gift! She is a crafty girl and I can almost seeing her using these in other places of the home too, if she didn't want to complete a kitchen with the other pieces... maybe sewing them together and making window valences?
I also love for myself the Kilim Noir Black & Gold quilted bedspread. the colors are just so vibrant, I can vision myself cuddling under them already!
