Fair Trade Finds at Taraluna {Giveaway}

Halloween is coming, and it's one of my favorite holidays. However, I've always been conflicted about trick-or-treating, particularly the candy and the packaging waste. I remember hassling my mother as a young adult, lecturing her about the amount of candy wrappers that fill landfills (as if I knew exact numbers). But it's only been in the last few years that I've become aware of yet another drawback to trick-or-treat night--chocolate. Most of the chocolate that we consume (and it's tons!) is grown in conditions that taxes both the workers and the land, and even includes child labor in creating that chocolate.

Fair Trade chocolate is becoming more readily available, and one such place is Taraluna, an online shop specializing in organic, green and Fair Trade items. We got to try some of the Fair Trade chocolates, and they are delicious!
They come nicely packaged in Halloween colors (let's pretend I didn't write about packaging earlier in the post. However I was able to reuse and recycle a lot of it, including the ribbons).
It looks like regular Halloween chocolate, wrapped in foil. We tried the Sjaak's Halloween Organic Extra Dark Peanut Butter Bites and the Organic Extra Dark Chocolate and Orange Bites and they were so good! I prefer the peanut butter to the orange, but in general I'm not a huge orange+chocolate fan. Soren loved them though, along with the Divine Spooky Halloween Balls, which were wrapped in foil so they looked like eyeballs and skulls.

Taraluna also sent along one of their home decor items, this fun string of animals that now hang in our window. Soren loves to ring the bell on the end.
And they sent along some sweet little elephant holiday ornaments. I'm a huge elephant fan (yep, I made a joke there) so I just love these guys.
They'll look great on our tree this year.
