I first saw the Little Thinkers series from The Unemployed Philosophers Guild when visiting the gift shop at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (and on a side note, definitely check out your local museum's gift shop for really unique gifts). I was particularly fond of the Frida Kahlo doll, since she's one of my favorite artists.
I like how they make some of the great artists, writers, philosophers, composers and other thinkers accessible to kids and appealing to the child inside us adults. Check out these other Little Thinkers, all $17.95.
Barack ObamaThey carry many other unique and clever gifts, like puppet sets, notecards, mugs and more. The Freudian Slippers ($24.95) are pretty cheeky.

Disclosure: I was not given an item for review, I'm just working off of the dolls I saw at the museum, and the sponsor's website. This is all for you, readers!
These are so cool. I am definitely going to be doing more checking out of that website. Perfect for my little supergenius. I would love Galileo for my son.

ReplyDeleteThis site cracks me up! (Have you gotten SoJo a Kierkegaard finger puppet yet?!) It seems almost insipid to admit that my favorite item on the site are the mugs with the disappearing Cheshire Cat and fossilized dinosaurs.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose just one Little Thinker (there are so many cool ones!), I would go for Ganesh. Or Andy Warhol, although I am not entirely sure I'd like to see one of my kids cuddling up with him...

The Unemployed Philosophers is such a fun website. My nephew will be graduating next month from college with a philosophy degree, so I'll have to revisit the site and get him something! They have such fun products. I like the Buddh-Its Sticky Notes. And so many Little Thinkers to choose from. I'll have to go with my personal heroine: Emily Dickinson. Thanks for the chance to win one! (krstrpp at hotmail dot com)

ReplyDeleteI have to say, I really like the Eleanor Roosevelt doll, or the Freida Kahlo (I have a friend who is a big fan)... Not sure, but I might choose the Frank Lloyd Wright doll to give as a Christmas gift to an architect geek friend...
What fun! I like the Forgotten Presidents puppet set. Choosing just one Little Thinker is tough. I like the Andy Warhol, but the fact that Vincent Van Gogh has a removable ear makes that my top pick.
