in bloom

After sleeping with the windows open for the first night since September, I'm eager to get outside today and enjoy the close to 90 degree temps in PA. Isn't that ridiculous?

I'm afraid my poor tulips are just going to pop open quick and die.
Though it's been great for the seedlings, which now will have a place to call home this summer.
It sadly takes up a lot of our teeny backyard, but I think the power of fresh, organic veggies will be worth the lack of play space for S. Especially since the park is just a block away.

Doesn't great weather just make you instantly happy? To quote Nirvana's song In Bloom:
Sell the kids for food
Weather changes moods
Spring is here again
Reproductive glands

Ok, so I won't be selling SoJo for food, but this weather is definitely mood-altering. So will you be gardening this year? Tomatoes in a pot? Acres of corn?

  1. Kathleen,
The flowers are lovely. I cannot wait to see your seedling growing.

  2. That definitely will be worth the space it takes up :) Nice quote too, I wouldn't have thought you'd sell him for food LOL, but the weather definitely changes the mood!

  3. We have a small plot in the backyard too. Hubby started some seeds about a week ago, and some are just starting to sprout. I love Spring!

  4. My flowers are just starting to bloom.

  5. I love Spring!!!!! the tulips are looking good, mama! Great song!!!

  6. Your flowers look beautiful! :)

No, after our garden was plundered by people, and ALL OF OUR vegetables stolen, we have decided not to garden. :(

  7. we had the heatwave but now we're back in the chill. all of the trees are blooming opulently, I hope they weather the weather okay...

  8. Most definitely the nice weather changes my mood. I have SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder - something I can thank my dad for passing down) so when it is cold and nasty, plus getting dark early, my depression gets worse.
I LOVE the photos of your tulips and I cannot believe you have warmer weather in PA than we have in FL!!
I cannot grow flowers to save my life, I planted 28 bulbs 2 years ago and ONE came up! :-( I blame it on the mixture of clay/sand that we have here... yeah, that's it! :-) Can't wait to see what you grow this year. Enjoy the rest of your spring.

I'm a good listener...comment away!
