It was bittersweet finding out that the last book in the Knuffle Bunny series--Knuffle Bunny Free: An Unexpected Diversion--has just been released. I don't want this series to end! (Yes, I have attachment issues).
My son, husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this poignant book. In the story, we find Trixie on a trip to Holland to see her grandparents, where she gets to see and try many new things (including coffee, lucky girl). As for Knuffle Bunny, let's just say attachment issues also crop up for Trixie too.
I love that this story is like a love note from the author to his real-life daughter Trixie. The ending will make you a bit teary-eyed, I promise! But in a good way...
Check out some more fun stuff on Mo Willems' blog, including some videos about the process of creating Knuffle Bunny Free.
WIN IT!
One lucky reader will get their own copy of Knuffle Bunny Free along a soft stuffed Knuffle Bunny, a luggage tag featuring Trixie and Knuffle Bunny and an over-sized poster. To Enter

My favorite thing about the very first Knuffle Bunny book was that Trixie's mommy immediately knew what it took daddy a few panels to figure out -- Knuffle Bunny was gone! ;)
ReplyDeleteWe're huge fans of Mo Willems' work, and often refer to our toddler as having gone 'boneless' when she has tantrums :)

We discovered the Mo Willems beginning readers this summer and we LOVE them. I love how the illustrations so clearly um, illustrate the text and how the text is colored pink for piggy and gray for elephant so early readers can clearly discern who is talking. Some of the BEST early readers, IMHO.

ReplyDeleteMo Willems writes books that have high kid appeal, yet are amusing enough that parents really enjoy reading them. You couldn't ask for more in a picture book, and his Knuffle Bunny books are the perfect example. I also love how he includes characters from his previous books in the newer books. It's fun trying to find the pigeon in the Knuffle Bunny books.
