Lunch on the Go with Uncrustables {$150 Giveaway}

If you're a parent, it's likely that most of the minutes in your day are already allotted for, whether it's from taking care of your children, your home, your job, or if you're lucky, yourself.  While I stay at home with my kids, I do find that there is very little time in the day just to sit and relax (and it seems like when I do, it's the time when someone needs something).

Occasionally I'm at a loss as to what to prepare for lunch, especially if we've had a busy morning out and about.  My oldest son is a picky eater, and would gladly eat tan foods (ie. pastas, breads, crackers) all day, every day.  Fortunately, he likes peanut butter and jelly, so I know he's at least getting some protein, a bit of fruit and good fats.

I recently was sent a coupon to try out Smucker's Reduced Sugar Uncrustables, which we've never had.  It's a simple concept, frozen, crust-less PB and J sandwiches that you can stick in a lunch bag or grab for a quick lunch or snack when you're not at home (or even when you are).
Uncrustables are now available in a somewhat-healthier version using whole wheat bread and less sugar.  I'm hoping they eventually nix the high fructose corn syrup, but at least they're making some changes to encourage healthier eating.  We sometimes buy their Orchard's Finest Preserves, which contains just sugar, not HFCS, so hopefully they'll head toward that direction in the future.

Soren and I tried an Uncrustable sandwich and didn't miss any of the missing sugar.
To me, they weren't lacking at all in taste or sweetness.  Mr. Picky thought it needed more jelly, however he did like the round shape of the bread.  And that there were no crusts.  They're a convenient snack or lunch to give to kids, much better than a bag of cookies or chips.  Each one is 190 calories, and naturally my growing boy wanted 2 Uncrustables, however the peanut butter sandwiches I normally make probably clock in at 350 calories, but are a little bigger than one Uncrustable.

The new Reduced-Sugar Uncrustables come in Strawberry and Grape, and can be found in just about any grocer's freezer.  They're a good option for feeding kiddos on the go.

WIN IT!

One lucky reader will win an Uncrustables Prize Package, which includes:

  169. They would help as it would be such a good and healthy snack to take with me when we go to after school activities. They are easy to store and I know that all of my children love them.
