While I've yet to pull out the Halloween decorations (I usually wait until October), the anticipation is heightened whenever I go shopping and see the autumn themed foods and decor.
My eagerness for Halloween decorating and entertaining was peaked when Country Living's new book, Spooky and Bright: 101 Halloween Ideas arrived in the mail.
It's a small book (literally) filled with lots of ideas (101, to be exact) for creating a spooky home or baking unique and tasty Halloween treats.
I foresee it being useful this time of year, when I want to find something unusual to add to my typical Halloween decor, or for when I decide to invite over some last minute guests of the kid variety. Wouldn't these dark candy apples blow your guests' minds?
The book is spiral bound, meaning that you can lay it flat while following a recipe.
And while some of the ideas are a little more elaborate, there are plenty of simple activities to try out. The one below reminds me of my spooky family portrait from last year.
Whatever your style, be it minimalist, full-blown cobwebs and bats hanging from the ceiling or somewhere in between, there's certain to be some sort of inspiration in this book. Because it's from Country Living, the projects inside are sophisticated yet approachable even by those who say they lack any crafting skills.
