A Somewhat free moment to post

After about 2 weeks of getting used to our little one, I finally have a minute to post an update. I've become a little more accustomed to typing while feeding, but am still having some trouble so I warn you this post will be short and not too detailed.

Soren is such a cute baby who loves to eat, and when he's not eating (occasionally sleeping) he is crying. Man does he wail! But I don't think he's colicky, as I usually know why he is crying--he wants to eat (he does the rooting thing) or he wants to be held. It's been so hard putting him down, as he screams after about 5 minutes of being in the bassinet or play yard, or anywhere lying down alone.

As you can imagine, it is exhausting for me and my husband. Of course my mother and mother-in-law and pretty much everyone who had kids 30 years ago say he needs to cry it out, but I really don't want to do that to him this soon. We have let him cry for a little while (15-20mins) but the crying just intensifies and drives me nuts, so then I pick him up and he stops.

Hopefully this will get easier soon, as I really didn't want to do the co-sleeping thing, but it's the only way we can get some sleep, as he screams in his bassinet. Our pediatrician has recommended the "Happiest Baby on the Block" regime, which makes sense (the whole 4th trimester thing) so I intend to stick it out until he's 3 months or so. By then I hope he'll have a little more cognition and will not be so needy. I am trying to enjoy his cuddles and his snuggling against me, as one never knows how long that will last. But as all of you moms know, I am exhausted, which makes things even more frustrating.

Well, gotta go and switch sides...will blog soon!
