Seventh Generation Giveaway

CONTEST IS OVER: WINNER ANNOUNCED HERE
I'm pulling out the big guns for the first review and giveaway for Green and Clean Week. It's Seventh Generation, one of my perennial favorites! I use their products all the time, and have for years. Much of it is that their goods are affordable and easily found in stores, but more importantly, their products truly work, even though they are eco-friendly.
I love how philosophy behind their name, from the Great Law of the Iroquois that states, "In our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations." How powerful is that? Especially if you have children, it makes going green so much more important. Little steps people, which Seventh Generation can help you with.
Their products are Non-toxic & biodegradable, Hypo-allergenic, don't create harsh fumes, aren't tested on animals, and are Kosher-certified. They disclose all of their ingredients and their paper products are made with 100% recycled paper, with a minimum 80% post-consumer content.

I've used nearly all of their products, from the laundry soap to their household cleaners and baby products and can honestly say that I've never had a problem with things not being clean from their products.
They mostly all have a light, pleasant scent, although I can't say I like the Green Mandarin and Leaf Shower Cleaner's smell...just a personal thing. My husband and I use their liquid dishwashing detergent all the time, since you can get it in Target and I love the smell of the lavender and mint. It makes washing dishes a little more pleasurable, and knowing we're not eating a lot of harsh chemicals that might be on lingering our dishes from other detergents makes it all the better.
The company is also very active in the global community, and if you check out their website, you can learn more, particularly about joining the 20/20 by 2010 Program, to reduce our collective energy usage and C02 footprint by 20% and use 20% renewables (20/20), all by 2010.

I could go on and on for hundreds of words about how great this company is, but their website says it better than I can. Plus if you visit there you can find coupons and join the Nation for updates on products and specials, forum posts, and opportunities to participate in research pane.

Seventh Generation is giving away a
{{LIVING HOME STARTER KIT!!}}
which includes the Grapefruit Glass Cleaner, Green Mandarin All Purpose Cleaner, Emerald Toilet Bowl Cleaner, Green Mandarin Shower Cleaner, Tub and Tile Cleaner, Kitchen Cleaner, 2 rolls of 120 count paper towels and a reusable tote bag! Wow!

To enter:
1. Visit the Seventh Generation and leave a comment about your favorite product AND something you learned on their site or their Blog
2. Make sure your email address is in the comment or is easily accessible via your blog profile or blog itself. I need a way to contact you!

Extra Entries
(leave a separate comment for each one):

  • Post my regular button on your blog

This giveaway is for US and Canadian postal addresses only.

You must do the first two things in order to enter ("I want to win, thanks!" comments will NOT be considered). You will have until Thursday March 12th at 11:59pm EST to enter. The winners will be chosen via random number generator the next day and notified by email. I'll also post the winners on my blog. If I don't hear back from the winner by Monday at noon, I'll pick another.

I like the eco=friendly Diaper Bag - especially how the profits are donated to Healthy Child Healthy World. Very cool =)

I haven't tried their products but all sound like they are worth trying! I read a post on their site where a person asked if shampoo and conditioner could be made in "bar" form so there wouldn't be a need for plastic containers! Wouldn't that be an interesting concept!

The Natural All Purpose Cleaner is something I would love to clean with in my home.

I learned on their site that if every household in the U.S. replaced just 1 bottle of 32 ounce solvent-based glass & surface cleaner with Seventh Generation's solvent-free product we could prvent 11 million pounds of Volatile Organic Chemical's (VOC's) from being released into the environment.

I like the Natural Fabric Softener Sheets.

One of the country's first self-declared "socially responsible" companies, Seventh Generation is a business that operates according to a new and different set of principles and values that in many ways are a marked departure from those long considered "traditional."

Their laundry soap would be great. I am sensitive to dyes and perfumes, so I would really appreciate this!

They have a guide to low carbon eating, which is great! I really do want to reduce my carbon footprint.

What I liked... and this is kind of random... Chlorine-Free Organic Cotton Tampons. I hadn't given a second thought to the fact that the ones I use currently are far from green! Now I will. Amazing to find a new way to go green.

A pleasure to clean the bathroom? Bring it on! I'd love to try the Tub & Tile Cleaner so I can clean and breath at the same time! :o)

I didn't realize that opening windows and doors occasionally (even in winter!) would rinse out the air pollutants that accumulate inside. Doesn't that bring outdoor pollutants indoors too?

Also, monitoring your home’s humidity could help ward off dust mites since they prefer humidity levels over 50 percent. If the air contains too much moisture, use a dehumidifier. This is a good thing to keep in mind if you're allergic!
