a yen for the yantra mat

Ever since becoming a mother just over 2 years ago, I've lost that ability to slide into sleep easily and restfully. While being on the computer at night certainly doesn't help my transition from waking to sleeping, I think a lot of my troubles come from not being able to relax during the day when minding my son.

Doing yoga helps, but I've also gotten to try out the Yantra Mat. I've seen it on other blogs and wondered what it was all about.
It's essentially a foam cushion with pointy plastic discs attached to it--sort of like a bed of nails, though not as scary--that is used to stimulate acupressure points on your body.
I've been using it for 10-15 minutes before going to bed and it's been a good way to prepare for sleep. One lies down either shirtless or wearing a thin t-shirt on the mat, letting the spikes press into your skin. It feels a little weird at first, but after a little while, it's really relaxing. I could actually feel my heartbeat pulsing through my back--which was something I had never experienced before.
While I cannot say it's cured any ailments (I've only been using it a few weeks), I do find lying on the Yantra Mat relaxing. I'm hoping that it's doing some hidden good for my body just by touching the pressure points along my back. And of course the best sort of therapy is the kind you can do lying down!

Yantra Mat comes in 2 colors and in 3 sizes, and if you purchase the medium size, you get a free carrying bag, which is convenient for storing your Yantra Mat.
Also, medium mats are now $20 off, down to $49 with that free carrying case I mentioned. You can also follow @YantraWay on Twitter or fan them on Facebook to keep up with their promos and products. I believe the Yantra Mat will continue to be a great way for me to end my day.
Disclosure: I was sent a medium Yantra Mat for review purposes.

That looks so cool! I don't think I've ever seen anything like it :)
Great review! At least it helps you relax just that little bit (that's SO important).
