Piggy Paint: Natural as Mud on Fingernails

Nail polish and little girls go together like piggies and mud.  But what about little boys?  My 5 year old likes color, whether it's on sprinkles or his clothes (he's much enamored of purple at the moment) so why not on his fingernails?  My husband is man enough to not be bothered by a little nail polish. :)

I'd be more concerned about putting heavy-duty paints and polishes on kids' nails than putting polish on a boy.  Frankly, I would probably avoid painting my child's nails alltogether it if it weren't for Piggy Paint, a non-toxic, water-based natural kids' nail polish.
I was sent an assortment of colors in an adorable package to try out on my son and some of our girl friends.  I like that it's free of harsh chemicals, virtually odorless, non-flammable, hypoallergenic and was created by a mom as a safe way to add color to her daughter's nails.
I like that you're not limited to just a few colors; Piggy Paint has every color of the rainbow, from blues and greens to the typical pinks and purples.  Here's our friend Jamie modeling her color choices.
Tough guys can wear blue polish AND build motorcycles (they're as tough-as-nails, right?). My son enjoyed picking out his colors and liked the little surprise of looking at them every so often and remember he had some color on his nails.
I'll admit that Piggy Paint doesn't hold up quite as well as some of the polishes I use, but that's ok.  It's better knowing that they're safer for kids.  Plus, kids seem to change their minds pretty quickly about colors, so you might entertain requests of removing the polish daily anyway (Piggy Paint does sell their own nail polish remover too).

It does help to paint a few thin layers and to run them under a warm hair dryer after each coat to help them last longer and resist chipping.  My son's lasted about 2 days, but then again he's pretty rough with his hands.
I love the cutesy names of the polishes, like Sea-quin” (shiny turquoise), “Glass Slippers”
(clear sparkle), “PINKie Promise” (glam pink), and “Girls Rule” (bright, shimmery lilac).  Now how about some "BOYS RULE" black polish, Piggy Paint folks?

You can buy Piggy Paint via their website, and through Walmart.com as well as select Walmart stores.  Until April 30, 2013, you can get a 15% discount on the Piggy Paint website with the promo code "PiggyFun" at checkout.

One lucky reader will win a "Toe Tally Fancy" Piggy Paint gift set!  Please comment on your favorite color below.  The giveaway is a quick one, ending 4/8/2013, at 11:59pm EST.  Good luck!

  6. Nothing wrong with painting a boys' nails! Love that you did it. And we love Piggy Paint! It's the only polish I use on Charlie. One of my favorite colors is Dragon Tears. :)

    Thanks for the chance!

  9. I'm with S on this one and I'm opting for Midnight Pansy! Love me some purple ^.^

I love how you and hubby don't stereotype your kids by not allowing them to wear nail polish. Honestly, I don't see the point in telling little boys no when it's just something fun to do!
