January 3, 2024

I'm dragging myself into this new year.  Nothing against 2013 (yet), but I'm just not ready to transition to healthier eating (darned leftovers), a fresh mindset on parenting (kids, sorry I keep losing my temper--blame this indoor weather), and exercising.
I usually don't make resolutions because I'm apt to break them.  Like within days. I have so little self-control, but thankfully I live a pretty healthy life in general, outside of the holidays.

To negate what I've just written (I'm pretty wishy-washy, can't you tell?), I would like to focus on trying to make some changes this year:

1.) play more with the kids, especially Soren. Make time to sit down at the table with him when Jude is napping and color, build, draw, etc.
2.) get outside more!  I think this was a carry-over resolution from last year, but I need to hear it some more.
To be fair, it's hard minding a toddler and preschooler in our tiny, fence-less yard that is right along the street.

3.) spend more one-on-one time with Chris.  Our lazi-cheap-ness about finding a sitter is no excuse. We went to a yoga workshop on New Year's Eve eve and really enjoyed it.

4.) burn more candles.  I love the flicker of candlelight, but just forget to light them in the evenings.

5.) learn more about my camera and photography.

6.) make good artisan breads.  I received a baking stone and pizza paddle for Christmas, so I'm eager to start perfecting a crusty and crumby loaf.

7.) create more craft tutorials on my blog.  This is an ongoing thing, which has been neglected over the past year due to lack of a dedicated space to create and photograph items.  Hopefully that changes a little as Jude grows up.
8.) Spend more time with friends.  Some of my favorite memories from the past year were created with friends.
I think that's enough to work on for now.  Check back December 31st to see if I've met my goals!  Have you made any resolutions this year?

Happy new year!

  1. Those are awesome goals!!! {Coming from someone who never makes resolutions...maybe I should get on that??}

  2. Those are all fabulous goals to challenge yourself to achieve and the best part is they're all DO-able; some people set resolutions that are so crazy, they're doomed from the beginning!

I hate resolutions, too, which is why I never set them for myself. I instead love thinking of achievable goals to aim for.

Either way, hopefully 2013 is a good year for us all! :)

  3. I don't make resolutions because I'm not apt to keep them either. But, like you, I have a few things I'd like to accomplish in 2013.

  4. These all look like good and attainable goals! Hoping we get to hang out this year, too.

  5. Those sounds like great resolutions. I don't make resolutions. Less guilt if I don't keep one. ;) Plus if I want to do something, I just do it. LOL Sounds so simple, right?

But I can echo some of yours... I definitely want to spend more time with friends and get outside more. I also want to start working out again. You know, if I find time for it LOL
